With their steep rocky peaks and breath-taking views, it is obvious why the Glasshouse Mountains in the hinterland of the Sunshine Coast are so famous. Created millions of years ago from volcanic activity, this unique ancient landscape is home to Mt Ngungun, the 6th tallest in the area, and is one of the more reachable mountains that gives folks the opportunity to witness spectacular views of some of the inaccessible taller peaks. During our Abseiling Mt Ngungun experience for 1, he will get the chance to see these views from a truly unique perspective – dangling on sheer cliffs in the safe hands of an experience provider with over 2 decades of knowledge.
Beginning at 8:00am, his 6-hour adventure will start with a rigorous safety training by expert guides; fully qualified in abseiling and much more. He will then make his way 1-hour up Mt Ngungun, hiking through beautiful scenery to reach the abseiling spot. Before he knows it, he will be dangling on the side of the mountain, abseiling 20m and 40m down sheer cliff faces – witnessing breath-taking views of the surrounding landscape. There is no need for previous abseiling experience, although moderate fitness is recommended for the hike up.
Fellows of any age 8 years and above can enjoy this adrenalin inducing experience, but if he is between 8 and 16, he will need an adult joining him. On the day, it’s best that he wears some non-restrictive clothing, and some hiking boots, sneakers or other closed toed shoes. It is also encouraged that he also wears a backpack – perfect for storing that water and the safety gear he will be assigned (all safety equipment will be provided).
