Found in the north-west part of gorgeous Tassie, the Dove River is just a stone’s throw from stunning Cradle Mountain, said to be the most famous tourist destination on the Tasmanian map. A wonderland of rugged wilderness, with verdant landscapes and unrivalled natural beauty, they will spot ancient pine trees, quartzite gorges and the unique button grass during their adventure.
Guided by experienced, award winning tour guides, they will traverse the area on a journey through bush, river, and gorges over 3-4 hours of exploring a paradise – they may even encounter a few wombats along the way, if they’re really lucky!
This incredible upper section of the Dove River was carved out by a glacier some 20,000 years ago, giving it an ancient history to add to the experience. Having an easy-going vibe, the tour will include walking in unique bushland, and floating and swimming through the clean fresh waters of the Tasmanian mountains – learning the basics to introductory canyoning, tackling small rapids, in a relaxed and fun way. Those who would like to add a little extra to their adventure are welcome to do some jumping off rocks, and other small challenges along the way.
Whether it’s a solo trip, a couples outing, a friends outing, or a family gig (minimum age is 8), it is a perfect and unforgettable half day adventure traversing rural Tassie. Throughout the 3 – 4 hour experience, about 1 hour of that is spent in the water, and all safety equipment such as a helmet, wetsuit and buoyancy vest will be included for each person.
Starting at the beginning of November and finishing up at the end of April, the tour runs twice a day, three times a week to allow for many schedules!
