Taste of the Mediterranean Class, BNE

Divine Culinary Inspiration In A Friendly Class

The textures, flavours & sophistication of Mediterranean fare will be unlocked during this culinary adventure full of tips & techniques to perfect dishes. Over 3 hours just outside Brisbane city, he will get to enjoy his creations after his efforts!

Our ‘A Taste of the Mediterranean’ cooking experience really takes participants on a culinary journey – where through the flavours of the region, they are in their minds eye transported to those incredible beaches, surrounded by ancient architecture, the rich and varied culture and tradition while learning the skills along the way to take them back time and time again, all from the comfort of their own kitchen! Their passionate teacher – a professional and experienced chef – will guide them through, unlocking expert tricks and sharing the best secrets to this delicious cuisine.

Once students arrive at their class, located just minutes from the centre of Brisbane, they will be each given a copy of their recipes and an apron for their 3-hour culinary adventure. All equipment and ingredients necessary are provided to the class, where they will not only learn and participate in making the dishes themselves, but also other important tips and techniques such as knife skills, expert cooking tips, making bread, and presentation and plating tips that will leave them feeling confident and inspired.

Their sample menu includes some seriously mouth-watering dishes to get an idea of what the class will be working together to make. With such an emphasis on the freshest seasonal ingredients, the menu can vary due to availability, but will always reflect the delicious examples in the sample menu.

Students will start by making a lavender, black salt and rosemary flatbread complete with a dip of truffle oil and fig balsamic, before creating a high-heel of prosciutto or some gorgeous pancetta bark, as well as baked double brie with cumin and pistachio dust! They will then create either sweet potato and speck or pumpkin and pancetta spatchcock to be served on a bed of truffled cauliflower or butterbean; or braised pork pork belly served with caramelised onion and pear complete with flavours of cinnamon and anise.

To satisfy the sweet tooth, they will finish by creating a ‘death by chocolate’ platter complete with ras el hanout, roasted strawberry brownies topped off with salted caramel ice-cream and a ‘blinged’ chocolate bark; or a gorgeous semi-freddo complete with all the trimmings. Delicious!

To create these amazing dishes, students will be placed into small groups – each contributing with their own assigned tasks. There will also be some dishes demonstrated by the chef, so students can watch and learn. Being such a social and interactive class environment, students will love coming together at the end to enjoy their efforts over a meal of the dishes they have created with their own BYO drinks!
