The tour will begin with them being collected from accommodation in either Glenelg, Adelaide CBD or Hahndorf. The first stop is the Haigh’s Chocolate Factory; well-known not only for its incredible chocolate, but for the smell that truly tantalises the senses upon entering. They will have the chance to sample delicious delights and witness the process of making what is arguably South Australia’s best chocolate.
Mount Lofty Summit is the next stop, winding through the gorgeous roads leading up to the top, where panoramic views are the reward, overlooking much of Adelaide, all the way to the sea. After Mount Lofty, they will make their way through the verdant towns of Stirling, Aldgate and Bridgewater; seeing just why Adelaide Hills towns are known for being quaint, leafy havens from the busy city, before arriving in the German town of Hahndorf.
Near Hahndorf, they will have their first wine tasting of the day at Shaw and Smith Winery – showing off just why South Australian wines and cellar doors are so famous. They will enjoy a Wine Flight of 3 whites, and 2 reds, matched perfectly with local cheeses. After their tasting, it’s off to Beerenberg Strawberry Farm Shop – home to a local business spanning 6 generations, offering incredible jams, condiments and more, available for sampling.
Next is Sidewood Cellar Door where they will taste their famous local wine and cider, and have the chance to try and win $1000 worth of prizes by making a hole in one on their golf green floating in a lake. Enjoy free time in Hahndorf to explore and purchase your own lunch. Choose from over 40 cafes, pubs and restaurants within a 1km strip on the beautiful main street. After lunch, it’s back to Hahndorf for cheese tastings at Udder Delights, some more free time to enjoy Hahndorf itself, and an afternoon tea from a German bakery of cake and coffee, before finally finishing up the adventure at award-winning Prancing Pony Brewery enjoying a Beer Plank of 6 boutique beers, and being dropped back to the pick-up point.
